Mid-Century Modern Table

  Not going to lie to you on this one, it's been a long time since I've rendered something haha! This table that I created using mostly grasshopper was inspired by mid-century modern design and materials. My mom is an interior designer and the whole time that I was designing this table I was thinking about the design aesthetic that she uses in her designs. When it comes to what makes this table different from others, I would say that the thing that makes this stand out is the circular legs, as well as the unique design used to hold the table top up. This table is primarily a decorative piece but, can be functional if needed.  As expected the function of this table is just like any other table where you would be able to use it for a variety of uses from eating, to using it for staging purposes. This table would probably be best suited in an apartment dining room, but could also be placed in a living room as a coffee table if at a smaller scale. I would also say that this table ...

Parametric Furniture Concept and Preliminary Definition

I'm not going to lie, this one was and is very difficult for me. To start the understanding of what parametric meant actually clicked with me this week and now I can generally understand what I'm looking to achieve through these creations. I started this by just drawing an organic shape, nothing special, but as I continued to experiment with lines I started to see a piece of furniture starting to form.  After the drawing was done I saw that the side supports of the table as well as the rings for the base could have the amount manipulated. When trying to create this shape, I feel like I got pretty close to the initial design although I wasn't able to get this to be parametric. I definitely like the shape and the design, but the struggle will most likely be the side supports. This next image is what I ended up with after hours of trial and error in order to create this design.
